UPDATE: It actually looks like we’ll not be having a meetup specifically labeled as an AU meetup at this year’s Blizzcon. Thanks to all that offered help, but with all the other things being planned, it just wont’ work out.
Blizzcon 2010 has been announced and, as far as we know, Azeroth United will be there! What are we going to do there? Well, have a MEETUP of course (at least one)! Not sure as to the date, but it will probably be that Friday night. It will be a combined Azeroth United, Twisted Nether, Blog Azeroth and others meetup. We’re looking for people who are interested in helping out! If you are planning on going to Blizzcon this year and/or live in the Anaheim(ish) area, let us know! We could use help figuring out where to do this thing!
We could also use sponsors. If we want to do this bigger and better than the TNB meetup last year, we’re going to need that kind of help too. We’re still going to have giveaways, so we’ll need something to give away (imagine that). Also, If any company is interested in co-branding, we can talk. Having some money to spend means we can find better venues. So, let us know if you are interested and how you can help!
We’ll be sure to post more information as we get it!
Well guys, we not only met our fund raising goal for Child’s Play Charity, we exceeded it! Your responses far surpassed all of our expectations. Each and every person who gave their time and effort, and contributed to Hearts, Hands, and Voices made our first charity event a huge success. Together we raised over $7,900 for Child’s Play Charity, and gave our World of Warcraft Fan Community a positive boost intern.
A special thanks goes to the team of WoW.com (Mike Schramm included), WorldofRaids.com, and MMO-Champion.com for their coverage of the event. Without their coverage of the event the exposure wouldn’t have had nearly the impact it did.
So, what’s next?
That is totally up to you! Azeroth United belongs to all of us. If you have an idea for another charity event, an in-game meetup, or are interested in getting involved in our preliminary plans for Blizzcon, shoot us an e-mail! More importantly, make sure to let others in the community know that we are still here, still growing, and looking forward to what 2010 has in store for us. And, if you haven’t already – UNITE WITH US!
Royal House of Azeroth on Arathor(US)
Can you feel the excitement in the air? I know I can. There is always a busy shuffling buzz during the last week of anything. And here at Azeroth United it’s no different. As we are in the middle of our last week here of Hearts, Hands and Voices for Child’s Play. And you know what? It’s been amazing. You guys have been amazing.
We blew the doors off our first goal of $5,000. And we’re getting closer and closer towards reaching our second goal of $10,000!! And it’s all thanks to you guys!
See everyone is getting in on the action now. We still have our #IBlameSyrana twitter campaign going. But as you might have read Mike Schramm of WoW.com and The WoW Insider Show recently did a Guitar Hero Endless Set Marathon and earned over $350!!
And now we’ve just got some other news. It seems Royal House of Azeroth over on Arathor(US) has been busy holding their own Guild Charity Drive.
This awesome idea and event was kicked off by Michael Coniff. He came up with the idea of getting his entire guild has been getting in on the action.
As a guild, Royal House of Azeroth has been scraping and saving and donating like crazy. Their original goal is to reach $100 as a guild. And honestly they might want to rethink that because as of last Friday they had hit $80 just with the internal donations and they had at least 3 made directly using the Chip-In widget here on the site!
So see, here you thought you had to do everything yourself! Get your guild involved like Royal House of Azeroth did! I’ll be honest, I don’t understand why we haven’t seen even more community drives like this going on.
So come on guys! Let’s get to it! We only got a few days left!
As promised, Mike Schramm attempted a LIVE 84-song Rock Band Endless Setlist on EXPERT to raise money for Hearts, Hands, and Voices for Child’s Play Charity. Today at 1:30pm CST, Mike began rocking his way through the first 5 sections of the play list before being stumped by Tenacious D – “Master Exploder” for nearly 2 hours. Ever the champion, Mike pushed through and the audience responded with more donations for the cause!
Mike kicked things off with a goal of $200 during his initial broadcast. And, once the goal was reached he graced listeners with his vocals while covering Kansas – “Carry On Wayward Son”.
In the end, Mike made it through 75 songs in 9 hours and raised over $375 rocking for Child’s Play Charity! We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mike for filling our Sunday afternoon with great songs, great laughs, and amazing support for Child’s Play Charity!
As a reminder, we are in the LAST WEEK of our fund raising drive for Child’s Play Charity! If there was ever a time to get involved, it’s NOW! Lend your Heart, Hand, and Voice to Azeroth United TODAY!
We’d like to thank ThinkGeek for donating over $180 worth of items for Azeroth United’s 1st Annual Hearts, Hands and Voices for Child’s Play Charity Event.
That’s right folks. The store for all Geeks, ThinkGeek, has jumped on board and is helping us help Child’s Play.
Let’s face it. If you play Warcraft or reading this post you’re as much of a Geek as any of anyone. Maybe not the thick black fram glasses kind of geek, but a gamer geek at the very least. Anyways, I know I am.
When I saw these gifts I started drooling. Seriously! Look at what were donated.
Can you guys believe it?!? We’ve earned over $6,500 for Child’s Play! Yep, that’s right, we’ve blown bast our original goal of $5,000 and well on our way to our second goal of $10,000! Great job guys!
Don’t take my word on it. Here’s what we heard back from Kristin Lindsay when we told Child’s Play we had passed our original goal.
“What a fantastic result, WOW! You guys have qualified officially as Gold Sponsors now, and I’d like to put a link and logo up for your on the Child’s Play site.” – Kristin Lindsay
Isn’t that awesome news!
We can’t stop now though. We have about 4 more weeks until we’re at the end Hearts, Hands and Voices and we’re now about $3,400 away from our new goal. So quit now! Donate using the chip-in button because every dollar counts.
Also, you can share your voice and support by adding a Chip-in widget to your site by copying and pasting the code below.

Azeroth United, a group of World of Warcraft focused podcasters, bloggers, artists and players, have joined together to earn $5,000 during their Hearts, Hands and Voices for Child’s Play charity event.
The great thing about being a community is seeing how we all use what we have to help each other achieve something greater than we could by ourselves.
We’ve seen this with Sideshow and Syrana’s #IBlameSyrana metadrive on Twitter. What started as a single blog with a great idea, has now grown to include two other sites (Fulguralis of Killing’em Slowly and Samodeon of Massive Nerd) jumping on board to keep this going and spurring it on. Thanks guys!
And now we have something else going on. Veliaf over on der Hexenmeister has announced he will be sponsoring The Hex Factor Contest for Child’s Play. He’ll be using his 25% off Discount Code courtesy of SwagDog.com as a prize for his Hex Factor Contest for Child’s Play. Each week he’ll host a different contest aimed at helping bring more attention to Azeroth United and Child’s Play.
All you have to do for the first contest is submit a Child’s Play themed slogan. Hmm.. maybe I’ll can enter? What about, “Child’s Play – it’s much more than just a game!” See it’s easy!
But before you go check out Veliaf over on der Hexenmeister for all the rules why not click the chip-in on the sidebar and through in your donation to help us bring a smile to a child.

About Azeroth United
Azeroth United is a community of Internet Media Sites and Sources built and maintained by World of Warcraft Fans and Players around the world. About Child’s Play
Since 2003, Child’s Play was set up and organized, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 60 hospitals worldwide. In five short years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.
That was awesome. You guys have proven over and over again that you are an overwhelming force, and you really came through and made a real difference to the millions of kids that children’s hospitals care for each year. So we’re doing it again this year, only this time we’ve expanded Child’s Play to more hospitals around US and the globe so you can send toys to a hospital a little closer to home.
